Box Office News South Korean supernatural action thriller Haunters (초능력자) opened at the top of the Korean box office this weekend.Wed, 17 November 2010, 14:26 PM (HKT)
Opening a day earlier than originally scheduled on 10 Nov, the film took ₩5.1 billion ($4.5 million) over the three-day-weekend for a Sunday night gross of ₩6.9 billion ($6 million).
Produced by Zip Cinema (영화사 집) and starring Kang Dong-won (강동원) and Ko Su (고수), the film is about the psychic battle between a man who can control other people's minds and the only man outside his control.
Haunters is distributed in South Korea by Next Entertainment World and sold internationally by M-Line Film Distribution (엠라인 필름). M-Line launched sales of the film at the Asian Film Market last month.
In second place is The Unjust (부당거래), directed by Ryu Seung-wan (류승완) and starring Hwang Jeong-min (황정민) and Ryu Seung-beom (류승범) about police and judicial corruption.
The drama made ₩2,2 billion ($1.9 million) over the three-day-weekend, for a current gross of $15.4 billion ($13.6 million) for CJ Entertainment (CJ 엔터테인먼트) who represent the film both domestically and internationally.
Still in cinemas, CJ's The Man from Nowhere (아저씨) starring Won Bin (원빈) has taken ₩47 billion ($41.4 million) with 6.2 million admissions since opening on 4 August.
