Kim Hyun Joong has finally revealed his thoughts about the hit KBS drama, “Boys Over Flowers“.

The idol appeared on the June 8th broadcast of MBC’s “Knee-Drop Guru” and talked about his singing career as well as about his personal life.

He started talking about how he got to play a significant role in “Boys Over Flowers”, saying, “I received a phone call from the ‘Boys Over Flowers’ production company. I didn’t know what it was, so for the first time in my life, I read a romantic-comedy manga. It was quite difficult to read because [in the manga], the characters had stars in their eyes and they were too blinding.”
He elaborated, “When I auditioned, they told me I looked very similar [to the character in the manga]. Inside, I had some worries because I’ve never acted before. I thought I should try my hardest anyways and studied by reading the manga.”

Kim Hyun Joong even studied the hand gesture of his character and was surrounded by a controversy concerning his unnatural acting. He said, “That [hand gesture] was even stranger. I finally realized that being natural was the best thing.”

He added, “I received a lot of negative comments such as, ‘My hands and feet are curling from such unnatural acting. Just stick to being a singer but you’re not a great singer either.’ After reading such a harsh comment, I really wanted to find the IP address of the commenter.”

He remained humble about the success “Boys Over Flowers” has received, stating, “I think it’s because the exporting team did a good job selling [its rights] overseas. The production team, Lee Min Ho, and Goo Hye Sun led the drama well so I was naturally able to do well.”

"10 years later I want to film a special coverage of Boys over Flowers alumni event".

Singer cum actor Kim Hyunjoong revealed his hoping-for similar to the above sentence as he divulged his unchanged affection for drama [Boys over Flowers].

In an interview held with SPN E-daily recently, "We'll gather all our casts of BoF after 10 years and see how much each has developed all this while, it'll be lovely if we could shoot it so fun", as Kim Hyunjoong says.

KBS 2TV drama [Boys over Flowers] was Kim Hyunjoong's debut TV work where it recorded above 30% of viewership ratings, and this was broadcasted during last January to March as it gave fame to Kim Hyunjoong. Including male lead Lee Minho as Goo Junpyo and Kim Bum plus Kim Jun, these 4 combined to be the members of 'plutocrats of the 2nd generation' - F4. This work was what catapulted them all into stardom.

Indeed, it was through F4 member Yoon Jihoo's existence in [Boys over Flowers] that Kim Hyunjoong has received affirmation and acknowledgment as he goes on to star as male lead of MBC drama [Playful Kiss]. To that extend, it is [Boys over Flowers] exactly that holds huge significance for Kim Hyunjoong.

"I still do come out for meetings with our [Boys over Flowers] members. And there are times that the female lead - Hyesun nuna comes out in our gatherings too", as he flaunted their unchanged friendship.

Yoon Ji-hoo and Baek Seung-jo

Ji-hoo and Seung-jo both used the same bag in Boys Before Flowers and Playful Kiss. I've been noticing Seung-jo's bags, I love the gray backpack but it's too expensive. It's great for laptops and you can put a lot of things inside including your cords etc. And also the backpack he used when he went out with Haera.

Anyway, I saw from Kathy about this Ji-hoo vs Seung-jo thingy. But for me,Ji-hoo will never be replaced in my heart. He's just priceless and so pure. I like Seung-jo too since we do have some similarities but Ji-hoo will always be first.

[17/10] BBC reveals the Hallyu wave in India and it includes Hyun Joong

The BBC hosts a web-based series called “Close-Up”, where short vignettes are created to exhibit “aspects of life in countries and cities around the world”.

The most recent episode focused on the Hallyu wave in the remote Indian state of Manipur. Bollywood movies, which are so popular and prevalent in other areas of India, were banned in Manipur due to the tense separatist movement surging throughout the state. Consequently, residents have been forced to look elsewhere for their entertainment fixes.

Check out the link here, as the narrator summarizes the impact of Korean fashion and entertainment upon an unexpected audience. Interestingly enough, the narrator mentions “Boys over Flowers” and SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong!
