The newly-crowned Best Mandarin Male Singer thinks Jolin Tsai’s dates were too high-profile
Being the biggest winner at the 22nd Golden Melody Awards -- having bagged three major prizes -- must have put multi-talented singer Jay Chou in a very good mood.
Jay, who rarely discussed his love life in public, revealed his marriage plans at the after-party.
The singer was envious of Karen Mok, who, during her Best Mandarin Female Singer acceptance speech, announced that she was getting married at the end of the year. Jay expressed that he "has to find a partner soon" and hopes to marry in three years' time.
Describing himself as a piece of drifting wood, Jay said he looked forward to finding a beach where he could rest upon. The singer also emphasised that he would listen to his mother's advice and would not easily divorce once he's married.
Jay then joked that his mother believed that it was hard for him to get a girlfriend, while his father believes 80% to 90% of stuff the media wrote about him.
The singer also admitted that he would keep a low profile after he has a girlfriend, saying that he would only make the relationship public when they are about to get married.
Commenting on netizens who supported his reconciliation with former love Jolin Tsai, Jay laughed and urged everyone "not to be too serious" about the performances. The pair had performed together at Jolin's concerts in Shanghai and Beijing.
Jay then expressed that Jolin and Vivian's dates these days were "a little too high profile". However, the singer still gave his stamp of approval, saying, "She has found a great man."
When asked if he would go on a high-profile date like his former love, Jay laughed saying that he could not do it.
"What happens if we break up?" the singer mused.
